He is an all around fantastic boy

Hi Rita,

We just wanted to drop you a note and let you know how wonderful our boy is.  We cannot walk anywhere, and I mean anywhere, without people stopping us so they can pet him, talk to him, find out about him - apparently we are not the only ones who think he is stunning.  Our vet said that he was a perfect Berner in all areas, color, size, shape.

Also, we started obedience classes a few weeks ago and the trainer is truly impressed with his wonderful personality.

He is an all around fantastic boy, and we cannot thank you enough for allowing us to add him to our family!

Attached are a couple of photos, one of him with his "brothers", which took a couple of months ago.

Everyone is so impressed with how beautiful and good tempered she is

Rita,

We are happy to report that Marlo is doing fantastic!  Since the day we brought her home Marlo has been the celebrity of the neighborhood.  We even have neighbors knocking on the door to see if Marlo can come out.  Everyone is so impressed with how beautiful and good tempered she is.  And we agree!  Upon her first weekend with us Marlo went to the 4th of July parade in our town, and Fred and I could not walk two feet without another person or family stopping us to see the puppy!

So thank you for socializing her so well because she adores people (particularly children), other dogs, cats, you name it- she likes it!  The only "thing" she doesn't like is the vacuum.

Even though she is only 10 weeks old she is already on her way to being a very well behaved dog.  Although the first couple days were rough, Marlo has now become adjusted to her crate, and every night she goes in without complaint and sleeps the whole night through.  As for house training, you got us off to a wonderful start.  She only had a handful of accidents and now she is going outside to do everything.

 Marlo

Marlo

Marlo and I complete several short training session everyday, and she already knows several commands.  She even shows off for the neighbors by giving her paws when asked.

We cannot thank you enough for all of your help and most importantly, for Marlo!  She is a fabulous good natured dog, and we are very happy to have her as part of our family.  We are sending you a few pictures of Marlo.  You will see in one that photo that Marlo attempted to walk our neighbors Newfoundland.

Thank you for everything!

Samantha and Fred V.

Beck, the "Gentle Giant" becomes a

Certified Therapy Dog International

Hi Rita~

I wanted to update you on Beck.  He turned one 2 weeks ago and he is doing fantastic!  We completed months of training this past Tuesday and I am proud to report that he has received his Canine Good Citizen AND he is now a certified Therapy Dog with thru Therapy Dog International.

The tester called him a gentle giant and she just loved him (as we all do).  We couldn't have asked for a nicer companion.  He and Jenny, our shepherd, are best of friends.  We recently had to put our beloved dog Phoebe down due to a massive tumor on her liver.  Jenny was very sad and we were so thankful to have Beck to be here for her.

He was able to lift all our spirits with his lovely nature.

He has finally decided that it's ok to get his feet wet and now enjoys swimming in our ponds with Jenny on a daily basis.  He tries to catch a fish every time, but no luck so far.  I'll keep you posted if he ever catches the big one.

Best Wishes~

Alissa R.

Hello again Rita~

I took these photos of beck over the weekend and he's just so cute I had to send them.

I think he really loves living here!

I’ve trained her to play piano

Dear Rita and Wolfgang,

We hope you both had a lovely Christmas and your New Year is filled with wonder.

Check out the book I illustrated recently about an amazing therapy Bernese mountain Dog named Moritz. Info on back of card and Postcard. Was a fun project to illustrate these touching and true stories.

Meanwhile, we sure love our Osita who is now 2 ½ . She is not only beautiful – she’s very smart! I’ve trained her to play piano, clean up her toys, bring me a tissue when I sneeze, nod ‘yes’ to questions, ‘speak’, ‘whisper’, wipe her eyes when ‘sad’… etc. You would be proud of your ‘off-spring’. And we thank you every day as she brings us much joy.

All the best,

Kelynn, Peter, Lucas, Maya Clide and Osita!

Teddy is everything I ever wanted in a Bernese

Hi Rita,

Long time no talk.  I just wanted to let you know that Teddy (Theodore) is an absolutely beautiful, sweet, loving, perfect pet and a HUGE!!!! 150 Lbs and not fat.  He's everything I ever wanted in a Bernese.  I wanted to say "Happy Holidays" to your family and we loved the Christmas card last year with the pictures of the puppies.

I have talked to my husband about getting another one for Teddy to have a playmate, but I haven't got him talked into it yet. Is Teddy's mom and dad still breeding?  Just curious! I will send pictures when I get a chance, but he looks just like his father and is just as big if not bigger.

Thank you,

Sherri N., Selkirk NY

He has been a wonderful companion to my wife while I was deployed to Iraq

Dear Rita,

I dont think I have talked to you since we received our Swissie Moroni (Fritz) who now at two and half is still a pup, a 115 lb puppy, who we love dearly.  I wanted to give you a couple of photos as well as update you on how we are doing.

He has grown up quickly and has been a wonderful companion to my wife while I was deployed to Iraq.  he loves children and women but is warry of large males, barks alot but after a couple of minutes he get used to them.  he really did not have alot of male contact while I was deployed so we are now socializing him alot with men again and am sure he will be just as playful with them soon enough.  everybody is always comenting on how beautiful he is and once they get over his size how nice he is. So enjoy the pics and I will pass on your contact info to my friend.

Thank you so much for facilitating this blessing in our life.

Sincerely,

Donald

He makes us laugh every day!!!!

Hi Rita-

It was nice to talk to you today. Attached please find some pictures of Bandit - a few of many. He is now over two years old and we love him very much. He was only 15 pounds when we got him and is now over 140.

He is a sweet, happy, beautiful dog and makes us laugh every day!!!! We enjoy him very much. As you can see, he is very close with Yukon (our older dog) although he is such a little brother to him.

He has devised a plan to steal bones from Yukon went he has them. He will bark at the door as if someone is there until Yukon gets up to check out what is going on. Once Yukon is up, Bandit will sneak back to where he was and steal whatever Yukon has left, ususally bones or treats!!!! He is also plays with our 21 pound tiger cat. They are best friends.

Thank you again for him. He is such a joy.

Everyone loves him!

Hi Rita,
Just thought I would send you an updated picture of Rex. This was taken on his first camping trip.  He did great!!  Of course, as you can see, he enjoyed the chair more than he enjoyed the mat we bought him to lay on!

I think we got the Pick of the Litter with him!  He is absolutely the best puppy I have ever known.  He is sweet, calm and very smart.

He skipped Puppy Kindergarten and went right on to Basic Training and passed!  The teacher was very impressed how fast a 4 month old puppy can learn!  He also comes into my office once in a while (at my boss' request!) and he just lies at my feet all day.

Everyone loves him!

Thanks again for breeding such wonderful pups!

Molly’s first taxi ride

Hi Rita,
David & I took Molly to NYC and we had a blast with her, she was such a good girl. She played in Central Park, walked down Broadway and Fifth Avenue, ate lunch at the Central Park Cafe and took her first taxi ride.

I'm sending you a picture of Molly & me in the NYC taxi cab, thought it would give you a laugh.

Take care and Regards,

The vet:  “Bear is the best example of the breed I have ever seen"

Hi Rita,

Bear had his boosters yesterday.  Our vet does not like to over vaccinate either.  He works with the Sacramento Zoo and is very knowledgeable.  We had a discussion about immune systems and the effect of vaccines.

We spent 45 minutes with Bear on the floor of his office with his entire staff and his daughter playing with him and examining him.

He stated that he sees a lot of Berners from the Bay Area as well as the Sierra and that Bear is the best example of the breed he has ever seen.  Both his confirmation and wonderful personality set him apart from the others.  Bear is outgoing yet gentle and very playful and interactive.  His reactions and visual skills are excellent and just the perfect puppy.  He feels, as we do, that Bear is really a special dog.

Thanks again for sharing these wonderful dogs with us.

Mason has a well balanced temperament and
an outgoing friendliness

Rita,

Mason appears to have come from an excellent line of noble champions and healthy Berners. He has become very popular in our neighborhood already, he charms everyone he meets.

He is developing a well balanced temperament and an outgoing friendliness. I am impressed that he has mastered so many commands and has totally assimilated himself into our family in just a month.

He is very intelligent, easy to train and an affectionate companion. Thank-you so much in your efforts to place him in our home and don't be surprised if I contact you concerning a mate for him.

Peace,

Mark

Chloe has been such a sweet girl

Hello Rita,

My name is Karen J.  I adopted one of your puppies 2 1/2 years ago, and have decided that it's time to add another one to the family.  Are you expecting a litter any time soon?  We'd love another female if at all possible.  Chloe (formerly Linda) has been such a sweet girl, we'd love to have another as mild mannered as she.
Please respond back and let me know when you might be expecting to have another litter.
Attached are a few of my favorite photos of Chloe.

Best Regards,

Lexi was quick to learn and is a well behaved

Rita,

Well Lexi is now one year old and we thought we would send you a picture or two of her.  She is a loving member of our family who has lived up to the Berner reputation.  She is posing along with our 1st grandchild who is now 6 months old. Other than her tendency to dig some rather large and deep holes in our backyard, she has been excellent.

She attended training in the spring and her intelligence was readily apparent.  She was quick to learn and is a well behaved.
We love her.

Thank you for such a fine pet.

He is the greatest dog and constantly gets good report cards

Rita:

Just wanted to let you know that one of your puppies, Guidry, that we picked

up from you in Massachusetts in April 2003 is doing just fine. He just

turned six last Friday.  In 2005, Guidry moved to Washington DC. He is the

greatest dog and constantly gets good report cards from his day care that he

visits twice per week. Here is a recent picture. If you know of any of his

brothers or sisters, please let me know how they are doing.

Thank you.

Farmers' Market: Elvis on the leash

Hi, Rita!

Zoso (Tamino) is growing up so fast!  Looks like he's going to be a big boy.  I've attached a picture so you can see how handsome he is.

He's also going to his second night of obedience training tomorrow.  He did really well at the first class and is an absolute angel compared to the other puppies.  (It's a small class of only 8 of us.)  He was a little shy at first and just wanted to go back to our car but he listened to me and was a quick learner.

We've been taking him out with us as much as possible.  We took him to the Farmers' Market a couple weekends ago and it was as if we had Elvis on a leash.  Everyone - and I mean everyone - stopped and said hello to him.

Kozy learns really fast

Rita,

Hi! How are you? Been a beautiful summer up here.

Kozy is doing great and learns really fast.
I send you a few pictures of her as you can see in one she's wearing a life-jacket because she can't swim. She loves the water. She also likes to go for short walks with me. She's a real good girl. I hope to hear from you soon and would love to see some pup pictures.

Thanks Rita,

Bailey is doing great. I am incredibly pleased at this puppy's ability to handle new situations and how quickly he acclimates to his new environment (a great sign of your breeding and socialization practices).

Our other dog Riley surprisingly treats him with remarkable gentleness. He has unlimited patience even when Bailey bites him mercilessly.

This past week, we took him with us to Danielle's soccer game and Jonathan's baseball game. He was a huge hit with the children and adults although I don't think he's very interested in sports as he slept through the most exciting parts.

Thanks again for bringing him into our home. I've included a few pictures with Bailey, Riley and the kids.
